Like a Virgin

I have been reading a couple of blogs plus this article from the Philippine Daily Inquirer about negotiations to bring to Manila our beloved QUEEN -- Madonna. First heard it from Aris when he received an e-mail about the upcoming concerts for 2008. I think I remember shrieking when he mentioned about Madonna. Haha! I didn't care if it's still under negotiations. I want her HERE!!! Here me oh music gods! So anyway, I immediately texted my fellow Madonnistas Flery, Harold, Jasper, Mia and Mother Michelle about the news. They were all psyched as I am! I do hope the concert would push through. I would sell my soul to the devil just to get front row tickets!!! I want my seats so close that I can see the pores in her face! LOL!

Please, please if there's anyone out there in the loop about this...do keep me posted. Keep your fingers and toes crossed people!!!

They're at it again!

Despite the fact that me and my friends (especially my ex-officemates and classmates) love to go singing in videoke bars, I would have to admit (this is hard for me. LOL!) that I am not a good singer. I am not bad at it but I'm pretty sure you could tolerate my singing. But isn't it irritating if you hear someone sing their brains out but can't really carry a tune.

I'm talking abour our neighbors whose having one of their videoke parties. I can't concentrate with my posts as this is the second time that a man (who's obviously drunk!) is siniging Be My Lady. I swear if I hear that song again I am going to plug Aris's bass guitar and strum it like there's no tomorrow! Kalowka!

Big eyed gal's new clothes

Bulaga! See anything different? LOL!

Thanks to Abie for posting this entry. If not, I wouldn't have known about Pyzam. I was happy with my previous template but I felt like there's not enough pink in it. Presto! Now everything is PINK! LOL!

Actually, there's two more that I would like to use as my blog skin but I've decided to reserve them when I get tired of this one. Haha!

Hope you enjoy viewing my blog with its new "clothes"! Ciao!

Almost there

Yesterday morning was our Capping and Pinning ceremony held at the UP Theater. For those who are in the dark, the capping and pinning ceremony is an event for third year nursing students where the students are presented with the nursing symbols. It is a symbolic ceremony which means that we are halfway there. This ceremony also symbolizes our committment to this profession. Accepting the cap and the pin means we are willing to carry the physical, emotional and psychological burden of our future patients.

The event started with the entrance of the participants (that's us of course!). Music was played by a male keyboardist/vocalist and two other female singers. Most of the time, the keyboardist was the only one singing (one-man band sya! kapagod!). And it was just weird that some of the songs played during the ceremony were often heard in weddings. Hahaha! So anyway, it was followed by a short mass then by a few speeches from our school's officers. I think the highlight of the ceremony was when the "special guest of honor" entered the auditorium -- Madame Florence Nightingale. We were told not to stand and take pictures when she was walking down the aisle but we can't help it. It was our dear teacher, Maam Penamante. If I'm not mistaken, she is already 60+ yrs old yet she still manages to teach. We were all clapping while she carried this giant lamp (may genie kaya sa loob non? LOL!) as Florence Nightingale was AKA The Lady with the Lamp (FYI!).

All in all, the ceremony was indeed a special event. It was more special to three of my friends who have received medals for their academic excellence. Kudos to Minette and Grace for receiving a bronze medal and extra high five to Ems for receiving a gold medal! Congrats guys! We're so proud of you!

Unfortunately, I cannot post any pix yet as I have yet to resize them in my pc in LP. I can only crop the photos but not resize it. Sheesh! Too bad.. You guys would have to wait a few more days to get a glimpse of me, my cap and my APRON! Hahaha! Oh that apron! It didn't do any justice to what's left of my gorgeous figure. LOL!!!!

So there.... two more semesters (hopefully!) and we're off to taking the local board exam.

Moolah!!!

Just noticed that in the Rate My Life Quiz, the lowest score that I got was the Finance part of my life. How true! This sucks big time! Boo-hoo! My salary is the only thing that I miss when I was still employed in the embassy (well, that's next to not always seeing my friends of course! LOL!). Now as a full-time student, I would have to go to my parents and not the ATM when I am financially handicapped. *Sigh*

I wanted to apply for a part-time job as my school sched isn't that tight but there aren't much vacancies for a part-time position. So, I'm really hoping that I can join the other bloggers in this techy money-making scheme AKA paidblogging. I've checked out a few of the paidblogging sites and came across Blogsvertise. The site was "untechy-friendly" so it was easy to browse. Sure hope to be a part of their "blogger family" soon! Crossing all my fingers...and toes! :-)

1. When I'm crying and can't stop... I look at myself in the mirror, after seeing that I look horrible when I cry, I automatically stop.
2. I am a different person when I'm behind the wheel (a lot would attest to this! LOL!)
3. I have charmed, lied and demanded my way out of a ticket (je detest MMDA!)
4. I memorize plate numbers of my friends' cars (stalker-ish!)
5. I feel weird when someone is touching my toenails and fingernails (they cringe/curl up when they're touched) hence, no mani and pedi for me!

Happy feet

It was the first day of work after a long weekend and I was very relieved and a bit surprised that EDSA wasn't that congested as I'd expect it to be. It was a bit of a breeze going to QC. I didn't expect that I'd get here in an hour and 15 even if I made a detour when I dropped off Aris at his office. I was trying my best not to jinx it by not talking to myself and saying that traffic is ok. Takot ako mausog. LOL! Good thing, traffic was consistent till I reached the last station of the MRT. Well, there were a couple of stops (especially in Guadalupe and Cubao) but all in all it was literally smooth sailing in EDSA. Guess I could say that this is a great way to start the day. If only the streets of Metro Manila would be like this every single day my stress level would probably go down a notch. Oh well... I am grateful that traffic wasn't bad this morning...

Have a great day everyone!

Ramiele Malubay

American Idol is once again back in the tube. Well actually, auditions started a couple of weeks ago but I was too busy with school (sick and tired of hearing school? LOL!) that I was not even able to watch the Hollywood auditions. So anyway, yesterday and the day before, I was able to watch the re-runs of last week's performances in Star World and QTV (proud Kapuso! LOL!). I was particularly psyched to see Ramiele Malubay's performance because to be honest I was hoping that she'd be Pinoy. At first I didn't know that she was a Fil-Am coz I didn't hear Ryan Seacrest introduce her. Going back, I had goosebumps when she started singing! Galing grabe! The judges gave really positive remarks on her perfomance including Simon. Her being included in the AI finalists couldn't come in a better time as I am really hating our country right now (ows! ngayon lang daw! LOL!) because of all the politics!!! ZTE, JDV, GMA etc, etc. *Sigh* Alas, Ramiele's performance last week gave a bit of a shiny glow on our country. Good luck to her and hope that AI loves her back!

Here's the video of her interview and last week's performance:

Sorry for the late recognition of these awards as I am catching up on my blog hopping. Was pretty busy with school last week plus I can't insert any hyperlinks using the MacBook. Pa-mac-mac pa kasi! Am I just being an Ignoramus or nawawala talaga yung ibang clickable pag yun ang gamit ko? Hahaha!

So anyway, thanks thanks to Ems and Farah for these awards:

Now I'm passing these to rafter, Joy and Kay.

Bathala part 2

I know I promised yesterday that I'd write about our trip to Bulacan but I really couldn't bring myself to type in an entry as I was so tired from the trip -- from Bulacan to QC and from QC to LP. North to South baby! We left right after the last part of the reception which was the " parlor games" portion of the program (naks program!). We were supposed to go swimming as it was held in 8 Waves Waterpark but after much discussion, we decided to leave early as we were both feeling tired already. Tumatanda na kasi! LOL! I guess we still have not recovered from the late night study sessions for our case presentation last week Matatanda na talaga! LOL!

So anyway, despite the fact that I am a camera-shy type of person (NOT!!!) I failed to have our photos taken during the event as I was so busy taking pictures of other people and was just laughing my @ss off during the parlor games at the reception. Well, here's a couple with me and Bathala's ninong Aris in it. Don't be alarmed by the gigantic flower eating my ear because the theme of the christening is Hawaiian as stated in the invitation (kulit noh! LOL!)

Here's a few shots of the church... I never realized that baby blue and gold is a nice combo!

I guess if I'd die (knock on wood!!!) and follow the bright light (feel na feel sa heaven ang punta! LOL!), this is what I'd see -- doorway to heaven :-D

Finally, before we left.. I took this snapshot of Bathala in deep slumber on his mommy's arms. And yes... He too is in his best Hawaiian attire. Cute!!!! *Gigil!!*

Bathala

It's a gloomy Sunday morning and we're off to Bulacan (ROAD TRIP!!) to attend the Christening of our friend's son, Bathala. Astig ng name noh?! So anyway, have a great weekend.... you guys still have one more day to do some R&R. I'll post another entry about our trip later.

Dear Mr. Postman

Yesterday I went home to our house in LP and was happy to receive Emillie's Christmas/Vday card (LOL!). As I opened it, I was shocked to see that the card was almost cut in half! The part where the card folds was cut so when I opened the card, I thought it was one of those that you open vertically. I can only assume that a sharp paper cutter was used to pry open the card as it was a clean cut. The staff of the post office probably thought that there's money in the envelope because it was thicker due to the attached photos. Naman! Just because the envelope came from the US doesn't mean that it has DOLLARS!!! Enube! That's why wire transfers and door-to-door delivery were invented.

Mind you, this is not the first time that a "mailing" incident has happened to me. I think it was two years ago when I received a birthday or Christmas (can't remember anymore!) card from my brother and sis-in-law that has a couple of photos of my nephew in it. So basically, the envelope was pretty thick and heavy. When it got to our house the envelope was torn and it had tape all over it with a note saying: "Received in this condition". Yeah right! The edge of the envelope looked like it went through a paper shredder! Parang na-rape yung envelope eh! Wag na kasi umasa na may pera sa loob! We're not stupid, ok?!

*Sigh* It really is annoying and frustrating when this happens. I for one love to receive snail mail from family and friends and it really sucks to receive it when you know that someone else has gone through it. Grrr!!!

It's a SIGN

Oh my G!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is official.... I WANT ONE!!!! I'm like a drooling dog in front of a deli. Funny thing was that last night when I was with my groupmates from school, one of them brought a Macbook Air. I was really amazed at how light and thin that thing was! I then said... "Sana may pink nyan..." If there's one, then it would complete my pink gadget collection...

TOINK!! Lo and behold!!! *Drool drool drool* It's a sign! LOL! Thanks Em for this entry!

Also, thanks to http://www.colorwarepc.com my prayers have been answered. Now all I have to do is come up with the money to buy this! Hahahaha!!! Any willing sponsors?!?!?!?! LOL!!! My birthday's in June... Ahem ahem... *wink wink*

Go for GOLD!

Oooo-weeee!!!! Finally, our case presentation is O-V-E-R! My gosh! Aris and I slept like until 3 a.m. yesterday just to review and cram all the information that we can for our case pres. For those who don't know, it's like our thesis in college. What we do is pick a patient in one of our hospital duties and review her case.

So there, we were preparing for days as I have mentioned in one of my entries and yet I felt like I can't remember a thing from what we have discussed. Old age perhaps?! LOL! Anyway, so we slept at 3 am and woke up at 8 to study some more and after that left for school at around 10 am. I was such a nervous wreck when we got to school. I guess Aris noticed that I was awfully quiet (this is really abnormal behaviour for me! LOL!) so he reassured me that it's going to be ok.

At 1 pm, we drew slots and unfortunately, we got the FIRST one. WAAA!!! At this time, my hands were shaking and was cold as ice. I thought I was going to faint coz at one point, I couldn't feel my legs anymore and was really feeling light-headed. Kahiya naman kung mangyari yun! LOL!

I think the presentation started well. However, after about 10 minutes in the presentation, the panel decided to proceed with the Q&A. That would mean, 50 minutes of grilling! WAAAA again! Good thing our group managed to answer all the questions. Well, minette, ems and sir bong did most of the talking. Aris, George, Rica and Rowell had their share of the mic as well. As for me, I did too but only to point our mistake. BWAHAHAHA!!

All in all, I think we did great! KUDOS to my groupmates: George, Rowell, Sir Bong, Jan, Grace, Rica, Minette, Ems, Kuy Lito, Jojo, Jeng and Aris for a job well done!!!! We did it guys! GO FOR GOLD! Hahaha! Capping na!!! :-)
2

THIS IS IT!!! IS IT REALLY?!? IS IT?!?!

THIS IS IT!! Hence, I have one word for you guys --AAAAHHHH!!!!!!

Please pray for my group tomorrow on our case presentation that we may be able to present our case well. PLUS! Pray for us that we may be able to answer all the questions of the panel correctly. Thanks! Thanks! I'll update you guys tomorrow evening about the results. Keep your fingers crossed again for me.

Toodles!!!

Introducing...

As what I have written two days ago, my dog for eight years, Butter, passed away. I believed that she did not suffer much. For sure she is now in doggie heaven. As much as I wanted to extend my mourning for Butter's passing, my mom and dad insisted that we get a new one ASAP. Luckily, Aris saw this add about Jap Spitz pups in www.philippinepetfinder.com. I contacted the breeder two days ago and closed the deal. We met the breeder an hour ago and saw for the first time the new member of our family.

Aris and I were trying to come up with a name for her. I was thinking of something that is similar to Butter but can't come up with anything except Peanut. Get it? Peanut Butter. Hehe! Aris then suggested that her name be somewhat related to McDo coz that was where we met the breeder. Obviously, we can't name her Ronald or even Grimace. LOL! Finaly, we named her Sundae because I was eating a caramel sundae while waiting for the breeder.

So ladies and gents, I would like to introduce... Sundae...

You sexy thing....

Thanks Em for this award! LOVE YOUR OWN talaga!! :-)

Look-a-like

I was just watching Unang Hirit (obviously Kapuso ako! hehe!) and saw this segment of theirs called Look-a-Like. It's a game where you send your picture or a friend's picture that looks like a celebrity or someone famous. Your entry will then be compared with the rest that was submitted and whoever looks more of the celebrity wins a prize.

This reminded me of an incident that happened to me the other day (which I totally forgot about). I was in the parking lot of our school when the security guard approached me to help me find a parking space. He directed me to this parking slot that was beside a pile of broken tiles and metal strips that were used in the construction site (my school is undergoing renovation or something). I told him to find me another one as I was afraid that the pile of tiles would fall and scratch the car. The guard disagreed, said it was safe and asked me to park. So I did. He was right, the pile of tiles were far away from car and it would take really strong winds to crash them into my car. As I pulled down my window to thank him, the guard said to me: "Sabi ko sayo maam eh pwide... Lam nyo may kamukha kayo..." Just as he said this, I knew who he was referring to as my "kamukha" --Jody Sta. Maria. Di ako feeling ha but most of the people I know tell me this so I was expecting it. But NO, the manong guard continued... "Kamukha mo maam yung kontrabida... si Sylvia Sanchez!" Bwahaha!! I was speechless then began to laugh. I just told the guard: "Ganon manong mukha akong kontrabida?!" And the guard left. Just as he was leaving, I heard him say: "Yung mata mo kasi eh Sylvia Sanchez talaga." Hahahaha! Humihirit pa eh!

Do I really look like her?? LOL!

Sumalangit nawa

Thank you Jas for this poem... And thank you to all those who have extended their condolences...

PAW PRINTS IN MY HEART

You came to me when I knew no love
And engraved your paw prints in my heart.
You left me later for the skies above
And made me wish we didn't part.
You taught me happiness was a treasure
When I was really down
You taught me joy and pleasure
And erased all my frowns,
You went away to help another
and left me a memory.
You flew beyond with a flutter,
And became a history.
You went through the gates,
To a special Rainbow Sky
You went there through three
life giving fates,
Who gave you the wings to fly
I envision you in the misty seas,
Where we used to play.
I imagine us in the gallant breeze,
Beneath warm golden rays.
I made a sacrifice that I thought you'd need,
I let you reach beyond.
I knew your soul would pay me heed,
And continue our precious bond.
I know your wings of translucent white
Will brush away my tears,
And in your highest height,
Watch as my sight then clears.
We were happy before you left
And we are still today,
Since after heaven committed its theft
You enlighten my paths and ways.
You came into my life as swiftly as a dream,
Then just as quick you had to part.
Thoughts only memories you left,
It may seem your tender prints
are on my heart.

Butter (2000-2008)

After eating my "breakfast in bed", I received a text message from my mom. I thought it was just a happy heart's day message. It turns out, my dog Butter passed away early this morning. :-(( I guess it was just one of those days when after being so over the top happy, it would soon be followed by bad news.

So after reading the message and standing still for a couple of minutes (I didn't know what I was feeling...), my tears began to fall. I cried and cried for like half an hour (now, I look like a goldfish!) and started reminiscing.

We've had her for a long time -- eight years. She was given to us by our neighbor. I was so thrilled to have a new pet that time. She would always stay in my room, would wake me up at times that even God must be sleeping. She would cry and wimper. I would ssshh her and wait if she would stop. Obviously, she wouldn't so I'd carry her and bring her on my bed. As she grew older, she had to stay outside in her cage. I know it's a bit cruel but she had to. Otherwise, our living room would be a mess and she would have probably eaten most of the flowers in our garden (she was a vegetarian in her early years.. LOL!). So anyway, I really love this dog. I would go to her whenever I feel down. Her eyes (that looked like she was putting on eyeliner while in the car) really make me feel ... safe and happy. It's true what they say that having a pet (that you truly care for) really makes life bearable. I will really, really, really miss her.... I hope she's happy in dog heaven...

To all pet lovers... never take your pets for granted... You'll never know when they will go....

Mush at its finest!

WARNING: This entry is mushy from start to finish. LOL!

A couple of minutes ago, around 6:30 a.m., I was awakened by the bright lights inside the bedroom. My initial reaction was just to cover my face with a pillow as I know that Aris was just probably choosing what shirt to wear to the office. After a minute or so, I didn't hear the closet door open and I felt that someone was standing near my side of the bed. As I uncovered my face, I was surprised to see Aris holding a tray with eight yellow tulips (my favorite number I might add) and breakfast. "Good morning! Breakfast in bed... Happy Valentine!", he said. I thought I was dreaming coz things were a bit hazy. Morning glory and all... So I pulled myself up on the bed and gave him a hug. Aaaaawwww..... :-)

I really don't mind not celebrating this day because I believe that LOVE should be celebrated everyday of the year. But this is very well appreciated. I was so moved because I know that even if he was so tired from work and school yesterday plus sleeping late last night, he still managed to meet his friend, Geloy to get the flowers he asked him to buy for me and order in breakfast. Now I know why his cell phone kept ringing last night. Huli ka Geloy! (wink, wink!)

So to my bebe, thank you so much for this wonderful surprise. What a great way to start the day! xxooxx I love you so much...

Blast from the Past

I think it was last week when I saw in raft3r's blog about his entry regarding his favorite movie, The Cure. Like raft3r, I too love this movie. It was only then that I realized that I don't have a copy of that movie. Thanks to torrent, I was able to download it.

So I was watching it yesterday and had me thinking of another movie that I like. This time, it was an 80's movie -- Secret Admirer. Confession, all the while I thought the title of this movie was The Loveletter. LOL! Now I know the reason why everytime I go to a video store and ask for The Loveletter, they always give me the one with Ellen Degeneres. Hahaha!

I often see this in channel 13 back in the late 80's where cable TV is still non-existent in the Philippines (or maybe just in our place?! Hahaha!). If you can't remember what movie I'm talking about, here's a video of the trailer...

Now do you remember?? It's in the same league as the movies: Somekind of Wonderful, Can't Buy Me Love, Breakfast Club, etc. Typical 80's romantic comedy movie. It's perfect when there's nothing good on the tube and you don't want to think while watching. Hahaha!

Magandang umaga

Wow! What a great morning... I feel like I'm back in Tagaytay coz it's chilly outside plus the fact that I received my first award. Weee! Thanks so much Abie!

After serious and cautious consideration…your contract of friendship has been renewed for the New Year 2008! It was a very hard decision to make. So try not to screw it up!!!

My Wish for You in 2008

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires! May happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had forget your home address! In simple words …May 2008 be the best year of your life!

I am now passing this to Em, Joy and raft3r.

Grammy Fever

WARNING: This entry is more of a video train... hehehe! ;-)

I was watching the 50th Grammy Awards this afternoon (and is watching it right now on its primtime telecast) and was just psyched to see the live performances.

I was estatic when I found out that Beyonce is performing with THE Tina Turner (and her famous gorgeous legs!). I just love Beyonce. My friends, especially Emillie (wink, wink) would atest to this. I think I was a "soul sister" in my previous life. Either that or bakla ako non (hanggang ngayon! haha!). I was singing while watching them on the tube. Hahahaha! Here's the video of their performance (thanks to youtube) ...

What's love got to do with this...

Another performance that I really enjoyed watching was the tribute to the Beattles. The lady acrobat or whatever you call her was amazing plus I had goosebumps when the boy and another "soul sister" sang Let It Be. Here's the video (thanks again to youtube) ...

This video, I'm posting for my hubby-to-be (naks!) because he just loves this band... the Foo Fighters. He was too tired and sleepy to watch it (he's sleeping already... poor thing) so I'm posting it here for his viewing pleasure... Muchas gracias youtube!

Lastly, I enjoyed watching the performance of the controversial Amy Winehouse. Even though she wasn't able to perform in LA.. she rocked it in London! GO AMY! Thanks again to youtube.

R & R

I was so relieved to have a day off from our case presentation. It was a much deserved break from the busy week we had. Yesterday was pure R&R. We started the day by going to mass in Calaruega. It was my first time to go there. Yes, I've never been there before. The view at the side of the church was gorgeous! We had a blast taking photos. The only downside was the road leading to the church. Mahihiya ang buwan sa dami ng lubak! It was worth it though. No wonder a lot of couples wanted to get married in that church. Here are some of our pics after the mass....

Since we were in Tagaytay, we decided to visit our friend, Mia who was there in Tagaytay for the weekend. So after having lunch, we dropped by her house. Mia texted me the directions how to go there. It was pretty easy ,no complicated turns or hidden streets. Funny thing though, after texting of the directions, Mia forgot to tell us that she was out. Hahaha! So, nagpunta kami dun ng wala yung pupuntahan. LOL! She got back after a couple of minutes.

Mia et moi...What's up with my hair?? Para akong bagong gupit! LOL

Good thing, we were having fun while playing with their baby German Shepherd named, Olga. She's so cute!!! Only three months old but she was bigger than my dog Butter. I wasn't really a fan of this breed, but Olga is soooo cute. Her fur was longer than the usual Shepherd so she looked like a stuffed toy. :-)

After that short detour to Mia's place, we went back to our group and had a very fun and "educational" game of Pictionary. Girls vs. boys. The boys won because of a technicality (plus they were cheating with the dice! haha!) but it was actually us girls who had the higher score. Oh well, sabi nga nila: All is fair in Love and Pictionary. Hahaha!

Have you...?

I was bloghopping and I came across this video in Gertrude Granny Panties blog. Move over brokeback! Ben is in town! Hahaha! I almost peed in my panties! LOL!!!

P.S. This video contains adult concepts. Just click on the link as I do not want to post the whole thing in my entry anymore. Might be offensive to some of you... :-)

Six Unimportant things/habits/quirks about my self.

6. When I was young, I thought that I was the sister of Jesus Christ... I don't know why but I did! (I know... SHEESH!!! LOL!)

Toodles!

Dear Mr.

Passing this to Abie and Joy.... "Hot mama" galore! ;-)

"Butter... beloved pet and friend (2000-2008)"

Hahaha!
