Changes

As I've mentioned in this post, we were told that summer classes will start on the 7th of April. Fortunately, it was moved back to the original plan of starting classes on the 19th. The dean of nursing told us in our meeting last Friday that the reason behind the move was to give way to our hospital duty (supposedly it should be for the 2nd semester) so we can complete the required cases by the PRC.

We didn't mind the sudden changes because that meant more time for us to relax and enjoy (?) our summer vacation. Or so I thought... I was told that for us (non-med graduates) , we would be taking two of our minor subjects (Pharmacology and Pathophysiology -- I know big words!) this coming May. Good luck to me! Hahaha! These from what I've heard from other students, are the hardest of all minors. Most of the time, these two subjects are taken one semester after the other. So I can already see myself with those dark and heavy lines under my eyes, zits the size of Mars on my nose (they just love this spot!) and more than usual "jumpy" attitude due to all the caffeine-infused drinks that I can consume because of late night studying (and blogging too! LOL!). But if this would make me finish the course a semester earlier, then I'm not complaining!

Speaking of finishing the course earlier, we were also told by our Dean that starting this June, all second-coursers who will be taking up Nursing will need to finish the course in NOT less than 3 years. Fortunately for us, we were not included in this batch and can still graduate after completing 4 to 4 1/2 semesters. I'm hoping for the former.

Since we are in the topic of completion of the course, our Dean also informed us that the PRC has a new regulation (not sure if it's been published already) that nursing graduates of March/April will not be allowed take the local board on June but on December instead. And for the October graduates, they will not be allowed to take the local board on December but on June of the following year. I don't get it why they have imposed this new rule. Some say to "regulate" nursing graduates. Regulate... how??? By hoping to keep them longer here in the Philippines? I don't think so. I bet most would not take the local board anymore and just proceed to taking the NCLEX (for chosen US states). Oh well...that's the least of my worries now. I still have to worry about our hospital duty on Monday.
