Becky Bloomwood in Real Life

I was watching something on cable last night and I almost jumped off my seat when I saw a teaser of the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. I've looked for links that would give more info about this movie and the dates that I saw when they were posted were from late last year. Sheesh! Where have I been? It's a good thing though that it will be shown some time next year. I'm really excited about this movie.

What Happens in Vegas

Last Tuesday, Aris and I had another movie date. Wee! *kilig*

We met up at Trinoma because I just came from my class, went home to change while he was fresh from the office. When we got there, we were hoping to watch Jackie Chan's Forbidden Kingdom but they're not showing it anymore. So we chose What Happens In Vegas. Speed Racer is showing too but I didn't felt like watching it.

Actually, I wasn't really thrilled to watch What Happens in Vegas because first off, I wasn't able to see the trailer. I have a thing for that except if it's based on a book that I've read. Second, I felt like Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher wouldn't click together. They seem like an odd couple to me. But my assumptions were all wrong. The movie was so funny! There's this scene where they were at each other's throat trying to get to Queen Latifah first. It was hilarious! The bestfriends of Cameron and Ashton were also funny.

I suggest all you lovebirds out there to watch this movie. Perfect date movie! :-)

After Credits Scene in Iron Man

Aris found out that there was an after credits scene in Iron Man. We were so disappointed that we left before the end credits. It seems like this is the trend. I think the first time I've watched an end credits scene was in Harry Potter. But I don't get it. Why would they shoot a scene and put it at the end credits but they're not gonna inform the public about it? It's not like everyone stays to finish the credits. I mean, what can we get from reading them? *sigh* Anyway, I got this from youtube. The quality isn't good so just try to listen carefully.

So for those who are planning to watch Iron Man, stay after the credits so you can tell me what "he's" saying.

Iron Man

NOTE: This is a non-spoiler entry.

Last night, Aris and I decided to watch Iron Man in Trinoma. I wasn't really familiar with this character as I was not really into reading comics back then. Though I am familiar with the other Marvel and DC comics heroes and villains, Iron Man is not one of them.

I'm ranking it **** 1/2 out of 5. Nobody/nothing is perfect. Hehe! I enjoyed the sarcastically funny dialogue of Robert Down Jr. The effects are ok and I liked the robots in the movie. And might I just add, Robert Downey Jr. looked so hot in this movie. He's really buffed. *swooning* I loved him in Chances Are and Heart and Souls but in Iron Man, I could say that his muscles looked hard as iron. LOL! Anyway, as much as I liked the fight scenes, I would've loved to see more of it in the movie.

Now don't think that I was only drooling at Robert Downey Jr. the whole movie, it also got me thinking of the troops that are being sent in Iraq and other war zones. It is pretty scary to be in the hands of the enemies. Who knows what kind of torture they have for their prisoners just to get a bit of information. I pray for those who are in the war zones, who bravely battle their fears in order to serve their country. I salute you.

Juno

NOTE: This is a non-spoiler (for those who haven't watched it yet).

Yesterday, as I was squirming on the couch due to really big time cramps, I decided to watch Juno to distract myself from the pulsating pain that I have on my belly. Fortunate for me, the pain subsided and I was able to watch the movie in an upright position. LOL!

So anyway, I really enjoyed watching the movie. I don't understand why Aris said that there were some who didn't even bother to finish the movie and just left. I, on the other hand would watch it again. I like the fact that it's a different take on teenage life and teenage pregnancy. I understand why some individuals and organizations do not approve of the content of the movie. They say that it implies PMS and that it is okay to get pregnant even when in high school. I don't think this or any particular movie should be condemned because of its content. Movies are (mostly) fictional. It is still the choice of these teens if they want to do PMS. Even if these children watch a lot of these kind of movies, if they are brought up well, educated and loved "properly" by their parents then I feel that they wouldn't "copy" what the movie is showing.

If you haven't seen this movie, I suggest you do. The lines are funny and the role portrayals aren't the usual. And for the sake of those "concerned citizens", kids, this is just a movie. :-)

Shutter

NOTE: This is not a spoiler.

Yesterday afternoon, Aris and I decided to go to MOA to watch a movie. So I checked Clickthecity for the movie schedule. We were choosing between Nim's Island (one of my must see from this entry) and Shutter. I know I said that I wanted to see Nim's Island but I just can't pass on watching a horror film in the big screen. Plus, our friend Mother Michelle told Aris that we should see it because it's scary. With that, we decided to watch the latter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's a remake of an original Thai film. I think I'm gonna watch the Thai version too after this. Hehe!

So anyway, within the first 10 or 15 minutes of the movie, there was already the "gulat factor" that I've always dreaded but enjoyed watching. I even heard a girl scream: "Waa! Ayoko na!" Hahaha! I wanted to go find that girl and ask her if she wanted to go watch Nim's Island instead. LOL! But I didn't and stayed. It really wasn't that scary. Well, the "ghost" wasn't scary but the freakin scenes where the background music changes or it suddenly becomes silent is what really makes me jump out of my seat. If only I could mute the audio of the movie. Hahaha!

It's a good thing Aris and I were at the aisle seat so he was the only one who could see me jerk when there was a scary scene. Another thing that made the movie bearable was this group of gay men (sistahs) that were seated at the other end of the aisle. I was really clutching Aris's arm in some scenes where I thought the ghost would appear but I wouldn't feel that scared anymore because one of the "sistahs" would say: "Ayy! Sasabog!" He/She kept saying that whenever it's a scary scene. And when the ghost appears and everyone was screaming, he/she would scream: "Sabi ko sayo pasabog eh." Bwahaha! I guess it's part of their gay lingo. Super funny sya and I'm glad because I was a bit distracted from the scary scenes.


All in all, I think I'm gonna rate the movie a 3.5/5.0. Go watch it if you want a bit of "rush".

P.S. This is the reason why I wasn't able to blog late last night. Still had the aftershock of the movie so I slept early. LOL!

10,000 B.C.

WARNING: Semi-spoiler alert!!!

As I have mentioned in one of my posts, Aris and I watched The Spiderwick Chronicles last Tuesday. Upon leaving the mall, we saw that the mall staff (or whatever you call them, hehe!) were replacing the movie posters. We saw that they were putting up the 10,000 B.C. poster which will be shown starting on Wednesday. With that, we agreed that we'll have another date the following day to watch that movie.

I wasn't really able to watch the whole trailer for this movie but the huge standing cardboard thingy for 10,000 B.C. caught my attention. Haha! At first I thought the movie would all be about giant mammoths and saber-tooth tigers but it was more than that. It was, despite the numerous "action" scenes, a love story. It was about a man's promise to the woman he knows he is bound to love forever. D'Leh (hunky main character) ventured into the ends of the earth battling dinosaurs (yes dinosaurs!), turban-wearing men (they kinda look more like pirates actually) and an eight-foot tall god (whose face was never seen in the movie) just to rescue the lovely, Evolet (throughout the movie, I thought her name was Evelyn. Hahaha!). If Helen of Troy had the face that launched a thousand ships, Evolet in turn had the face that launched a thousand tribes. :-D Haha! Corny!

All in all, I think it was an 'ok' movie. However, there are two things that I don't get. I suck in World History so correct me if I'm wrong but is it really possible for mammoths and saber-tooth tigers to be living in the same age of the dinosaurs? Are they like situated in different parts of the earth or should they be in different eras? I don't wanna sound technical here but I just want to be enlightened (plus I'm too lazy to do research right now). Another thing, what is up with the gay priests?? I have nothing against gay people (babaeng bakla kaya ako! LOL!) but I just don't get it. The power and authority of the god was diminished once you see the fumbling priests that serving him/her.

I am not a critic. Don't be influenced (feeling!) with this post. Just wanted to give my two cents on this movie. Happy weekend everyone!

When I go to the mall to watch a movie, I see to it that we'd get in just in time for the movie trailers. I love watching them. They keep me posted on what's next on my 'To Watch' list. After watching The Spiderwick Chronicles the other night and 10,000 BC last night (will post a different entry for this one soon), I had a glimpse of the upcoming movies. Last night, we went to the mall for dinner and a movie. Dinner was great at one of our favorite restaurants, Fish & Co. Can't post any pictures because I didn't bring my camera but even if I did, I would be busy munching and the pictures that you'll be seeing would be empty plates. Haha!

We really didn't have a movie in mind so we decided to look at the posters and the movie summary. It was either Dan in Real Life or The Spiderwick Chronicles. We decided to watch the latter. It was, if I'm not mistaken a "PG" rated film so good for the pamilyados. So anyway, it was a very entertaining fantasy film. There were a few funny lines from the characters and the "fantastical creatures" are so cute. It's like Harry Potter vs. Shrek (in real life! LOL!).There were a few scenes where I was at the edge of my seat, shrieking and tugging Aris's jacket sleeve but it could probably just be me (since I am forever magugulatin!). I better stop now because I might spoil it for those who haven't seen it. Haha!
