Jollibee's Lolo?

I really can't remember what I was looking for in Google when I came across this picture. I was just amused when I saw it. Maybe you know why...

According to Wikipedia, this is from a 1963 poster featuring CDC’s national symbol of public health, the "Wellbee", who was depicted here encouraging the public to receive an oral polio vaccine.

Is this where Jollibee corporation got the idea for their mascot or is it just sheer coincidence?

A lot of new things for Big Eyed Gal

Whew! New domain, new song of the week, new layout. Weee! I spent almost five long hours just to come up with this layout. Hehehe! I'm really not into the whole html thingy so I was really doing trial and error just to put the background image.

I'm pretty pleased with the results. Now the picture really suits me as I am aspiring to be a registered nurse. Plus, not only is the background image a nurse, but she's also big-eyed just like me. :-D Oh my gosh, is that the cartoon version of my future self? Hahahaha!

What do you think guys? Is this ok? I'm sure you're all glad that your eyes could have a break from all the pink that you've seen in my previous layout. :-D

Any comments/suggestions/violent reactions... you guys know what to do.

My new home -->http://www.bigeyedgal.com

I've been pretty busy over the weekend which explains my two-day absence here. I'll be posting entries about it later but first off, I'd like to make this announcement.

I got myself my own domain. Wee!!! *happy dance* After a short discussion with Em and Abie, I've finally decided to get my own domain. I was so glad that this name was still available. Otherwise, I'd still be racking my brain to come up with a new name. Whew! I'd also like to thank Aris for his "help". Mwah! :-D

Parents' Wish

I was just thinking of this e-mail that I received when I was still working in the embassy about the Parent's Wish. It's weird because when I opened my Yahoo mail, there it was, forwarded by my good friend Gutz. I totally forgot the website and I'm glad that she sent me that e-mail.

I'm not sure if you guys saw this already. It's a different version (the audio was a bit muffled) from what I saw a couple of years ago but the message is the same. This never ceased to make me cry (and feel guilty at the same time).

Enjoy!

The one and only (?)

I was channel surfing the other day when I was mesmerized by this chocolate dessert that I have no idea what it's called. It was actually the background for the end credits of this cooking show (obviously!). I was then distracted when I saw the name 'Valerie' flash on the screen. She was one of the production staff (I think) for that show. So anyway, I was happy to see another Valerie (even though it was just on TV) as I don't always see or meet anyone that has the same name that I have.

In high school, I think there were only three of us named Valerie as compared to the number of Sheryl, K(C)atherine and Michelle in my batch. Same goes in college. I'm the only Valerie in my block! So I thought, since there aren’t a lot of “Valeries” then my name should be unique. I mean, my last name (which I opted not to mention here..hehe!) isn't that common as well so there might be just one Valerie ******** in this freakin planet. Just the thought of it made me feel special. Haha! But I had to make sure... I wasn’t really convinced so I googled my name and came across this site. According to this, there are 31 Valerie ******** in California alone. I think it was pretty accurate since I've tried putting my relatives' names in it and the address (name of state) was correct. Sheesh! Well, so much for being unique. Haha!

Moolah!!!

Just noticed that in the Rate My Life Quiz, the lowest score that I got was the Finance part of my life. How true! This sucks big time! Boo-hoo! My salary is the only thing that I miss when I was still employed in the embassy (well, that's next to not always seeing my friends of course! LOL!). Now as a full-time student, I would have to go to my parents and not the ATM when I am financially handicapped. *Sigh*

I wanted to apply for a part-time job as my school sched isn't that tight but there aren't much vacancies for a part-time position. So, I'm really hoping that I can join the other bloggers in this techy money-making scheme AKA paidblogging. I've checked out a few of the paidblogging sites and came across Blogsvertise. The site was "untechy-friendly" so it was easy to browse. Sure hope to be a part of their "blogger family" soon! Crossing all my fingers...and toes! :-)
