Almost there
Yesterday morning was our Capping and Pinning ceremony held at the UP Theater. For those who are in the dark, the capping and pinning ceremony is an event for third year nursing students where the students are presented with the nursing symbols. It is a symbolic ceremony which means that we are halfway there. This ceremony also symbolizes our committment to this profession. Accepting the cap and the pin means we are willing to carry the physical, emotional and psychological burden of our future patients.
The event started with the entrance of the participants (that's us of course!). Music was played by a male keyboardist/vocalist and two other female singers. Most of the time, the keyboardist was the only one singing (one-man band sya! kapagod!). And it was just weird that some of the songs played during the ceremony were often heard in weddings. Hahaha! So anyway, it was followed by a short mass then by a few speeches from our school's officers. I think the highlight of the ceremony was when the "special guest of honor" entered the auditorium -- Madame Florence Nightingale. We were told not to stand and take pictures when she was walking down the aisle but we can't help it. It was our dear teacher, Maam Penamante. If I'm not mistaken, she is already 60+ yrs old yet she still manages to teach. We were all clapping while she carried this giant lamp (may genie kaya sa loob non? LOL!) as Florence Nightingale was AKA The Lady with the Lamp (FYI!).
All in all, the ceremony was indeed a special event. It was more special to three of my friends who have received medals for their academic excellence. Kudos to Minette and Grace for receiving a bronze medal and extra high five to Ems for receiving a gold medal! Congrats guys! We're so proud of you!
Unfortunately, I cannot post any pix yet as I have yet to resize them in my pc in LP. I can only crop the photos but not resize it. Sheesh! Too bad.. You guys would have to wait a few more days to get a glimpse of me, my cap and my APRON! Hahaha! Oh that apron! It didn't do any justice to what's left of my gorgeous figure. LOL!!!!
So there.... two more semesters (hopefully!) and we're off to taking the local board exam.
